Laurie

From the Desk of Laurie Veenema:

alas, nothing new to read.  Where have all my people gone?  Long time passing?  Where have all my people gone?  Long long time ago.....Where have all my people gone?  Gone to the 'fridge every one!  When will they ever learn?  When will they ever learn?

.................................................
Laurie:  Everyone must be too busy eating large amounts of food to come to the blog page.  Why just the other day, we grilled outside.  We made bratwursts, well we cooked them, actually, they were already made.

Sandy had one, I had 4.  And we both gained a pound each.

Excersize:  Well, I usually ride my bike on Saturdays, but it is raining today, so I think we are gonna go to the bookstore.  I will get a book by Willa Cather.  In 5th grade or so, I had to do a report on her...I was mad I had to do my book report on a woman.  I was mad I couldn't get Edgar Alan Poe, but Steve Klemm got him instead by asking ahead....so mad.  Anyway, I told myself I will read something by her....it took many years for me to do it....but I finally did it and I read "My Antonia".  It was awesome.  (Oh yeah, I read "Paul's Case" which is a short story by her, think I read that in college.)  It just goes to show you...that...I don't know...do book reports on Willa Cather.  She was gay.   So now I am gonna read "O Pioneers".  I'm just saying...  Mark

Laurie Veenema Starts Selling Herbalife in Shameless Quest To Earn Extra Money

.From the kitchen (of course) from Lauren Veenema:

Hi Everyone,  I think I've GAINED weight and would be willing to give my ten bucks so someone but I do like the idea of another month to see if we can get on board.  My new game plan is HerbalLife.  It's two shakes a day plus a sensible meal.  We'll see how sensible my meals are.  I'm still waiting for the product to arrive but I have had some sample packets and I was surprized to find that, 1. it didn't taste too bad 2. I didn't starve to death between breakfast and lunch. and 3.  Lets see.....is there a 3?  it reminded me of our carnation instant breakfast days.  Oh and 4. it makes me drink a glass of milk every day.  So that's good.  Herballife also has protein bars that are tasty too.  Still not doing well on the exercise front, don't know what I'm going to do about that.  Have been out skiing a couple more times and Jim and I are headed up to Bellaire to x-country ski at Shuss and Shanty Creek; we did that last year too.  We'll probably end up skiing about 20-22 k during the course of the day.  Jim had his race last weekend and had a  time of 2 hr 2 min or something like that.  He said conditions weren't that great because it got too warm so there was a lot of slipping.  Two steps back for every step forward kind of deal.  Wait!  He'd still be there if that were true.
Anyway,  that's all I got.  I am Not the biggest loser and swimsuit season is fast approaching.  Stay in touch everyone.

Frankisms

1984: Mark:  pointing to Frank's bell-bottom trousers:  "Frank, are those flairs?"
          Frank:  "No, they're mine."

2011:  Frank:  "See that building over there?  The whole roof burned up last month.
           Mark:  "How did that happen?
           Frank:  "It caught on fire."

Need another month?

What's up with Roger Ebert's face?  I'm just saying....

Hey, Sandy and I have not done well AT ALL this month....we are wondering if we should extend the next weigh-in another month.  If anyone thinks they have lost a good amount, then by all means, we should have a weigh-in, but maybe everyone else is screwing up too.  I just ate at McDonalds.  Ohhhhhh.  Let me know....we need a plan of action.

Sandy makes X-Country ski debut!

I lived through it.  I can still walk.  I fell 4 times but managed to get up the first 3 times.  The fourth time was in the parking lot and I just said screw it and took my skiis off with Mark's help. He thinks I am very slow and ungainly.  I made it all around the whole park though and I know you are all thinking that there are very flat trails in that park but I am here to tell you there are plenty of slopes to be found. I should know, I fell on every one.  Mark and I have been eating too much food. I don't think I have lost any pounds yet.  :(

Laurie Skis and Eats....all on 23Jan11

Hello everyone,
I got out skiing today at Cannonsburg St Game Are.  We skiied for probably and hour and fifteen minutes or so.  My eating habits are still not the best but they seem to improve when I start moving a bit.  How are the skiis working out Sandy?  My one and only tip for x-country skiing is to really suck in your gut especially when going up a hill.  It seems to make your butt stay more underneath you or something, plus it just strengthens your core.  I fell twice going down a hill (it was kind of icey) but then when I remembered the "suck in your gut" thing I did much better.  I also bought Just Dance 2 for the wii (over a week ago) and just plugged it in for the first time today.  I did a warm up and then "It's Raining Men"  for 11 minutes.  I didn't do more because we were going skiing.  I liked it.  I can see myself maybe doing a few minutes in the eveing after work for starts and then hopefully increasing the time.  I'll keep you posted.
Wondering how Bri did in Vegas and Sherry and Kevin too.
Planning on skiing again next Friday out at Pigeon Creek with a friend who either hasn't done any or hasn't done much x-country skiing before.  Jim and I are game for skiing out at Hoffmaster too.  His race is the weekend of Feb. 5 so it will probably be after that.  But we'll have to make a plan before we lose all this glorious snow.
Well, got some Zuma Blitz work to do.  Look forward to ya'lls blogs.

PS:  We have a weigh in coming up next weekend.  Should we make a plan?
